I bet Disney never thought of this Little Mermaid!!!

Hello lovelies, today i bring you a lovely little card I made using Smeared Inks Carnies stamp set.  I got the inspiration for this card when I picked up a charm that looks like red coral, I love making jewelry!, and went from there.  I made a stencil of the coral and used it on the card with Gesso, y'all know I love me some Gesso!  I used Tim Holtz Distress inks to color in the card that is based on a gray background.  I couldn't wait to color in this image though, I just knew she had to be all shades of blue cause she had her necklace broken somehow...I will leave that part up to you to decide.  Anyway, I know this makes no sense and I am rambling but just wanted to get this posted before my hubby comes home for a visit!!!Anyway here she is....whacha think?

Anyway, that's the end to this randomness, but never fear you know I will be back with more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soot Stamping Tutorial using Bombshell Stamps!

Hello my lovelies,  this month the montly Bombshell asked us to make a project without using patterned paper, or making our own! Here are the guidelines for the challenge!

"BABY GOT BACK" CONTEST GUIDELINES: (CONTEST ENDS APR. 30, 2010)
The creation can be a card, layout or altered item, but must:

1. use a Bombshell Stamp somewhere
2. incorporate a handmade background using bombshell stamps (no preprinted patterned papers)
3. post a photo of your creation in this thread!

There is still time to participate in this challenge! For complete details please look here!

The stamp set I chose to use is called Mans Ruin and you can find it at Bombshell Stamps. Now on to the tutorial!

Soot Stamping
Materials needed:
Glossy white cardstock
Candle
Stamp or stamps of your choice
Acrylic Sealer (not shown)
Dye Ink(optional)*
Brayer(optional)

Step 1: Light your candle!
Step 2: Take the cardstock, holding it by the edges. With glossy side down, wave the cardstock across the candle flame, until you get the look you desire!  BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF!!Do not touch the soot with your fingers as they will take to soot off of the paper and leave your fingerprints.
Step 3: Take your stamp or stamps and press image into soot. If using the same image more than once be sure to clean it after each use!**

Step 4: Spray with acrylic sealer after stamping is completed!
*I used Tim Holtz Fire Brick Red Distress Ink.
** I used a damp paper towel to stamp the image on after each use.
(optional) if you want a colored background...apply one or more dye inks with a brayer to the glossy side of the cardstock, then follow directions above.

Here is my finished project!

I will make you HURT!!

This is a card I made for the Smeared and Smudged Rock-n-Rolla Challenge for April. This months challenge was the song Hurt by Johnny Cash! I love Johnny Cash so this was a perfect challenge for me! The challenge is to get inspiration in any way, shape, or form from the video and roll with it! When I think of Mr. Cash I think of black as he was the Man in black. Watching the video, you see all these bronze statues of him and other things as well! So this is what I came up with for the challenge. I used the Chicks Dig Guns stamp set(which I love) from Smeared Ink. Also used for this card are SU cardstock, Ranger products Perfect Pearls, Versamark, and Matte finish spray.

To view the video and complete detail of the challenge please go here. Hurry though, the challenge ends April 30th! Also if you are looking for a place to display and or learn how to use vintage, alternative, or gothic art rubber stamping then the Smeared and Smudged Ning group is the place for you! We would love to have you come over and join! All art types accepted!!!

Enjoy!

Smeared and Smudged Blog Hop

Hello lovelies,

Can you believe it is April already?????!!!!????? I can't time sure is going quickly! It is time for another Smeard and Smudged Blog hop. I could not wait to participate in this hop! I was so excited to use my new Smeared Ink stamp sets! The one chosen for this project is Elementals!!! That stamp set is awesome!!!

I chose to alter a canvas for this project. I took a 8 x 10 canvas and painted it dark gray, then took the image that I had blown up** and attached it to the canvas. Painted it in different shades of gray and then added some gesso to the canvas and dry brushed in shades of gray. I added the origial size image colored with copics to the corner.

I hope you enjoy this hop and don't forget to go see the other projects, there are some awesome ladies in this group and I am proud of everything that they do! If you wanna know more you should hop on over to the ning group Smeared and Smudged
