Delicious Doodles Blog Hop Smeared and smudged Style!!!

Hello lovelies,

Today we are having a wonderful hop!  Teri over at Delicious doodles is one of our sponsors this month over on Smeared and Smudged and offered the DT some wonderful images from her shop!!! I chose the Skeletal Candle Holder image.  Why you may ask, it's not Halloween you say, well why can't Halloween be everyday I ask, and I say to you one I love candles, two I love skulls, and three why not get something that has both!!!!!  When I started working on my card for this hop I knew I wanted to do something very basic with my image.  So I just sponged Antique Linen Distress ink all over it, then I set it aside because something just wasn't right with it to me.  I mean if is so beautifully drawn that it doesn't need me to change it much.  so I'm sitting here looking at it and think OK I need to add some color so I just reach over into my marker bin and pick the first one that touches my fingers, pull it out and there is orange.  I use orange as a highlight/color pop here and there and call it good.  Then I start searching for patterned paper to use that will go with it.  All the while thinking what am I going to make this look like.  Then I'm like DOH  you have a card sketch silly so there ya go.  A double dipper for the DD hop and the S & S card sketch challenge.  Yeah sorry for rambling there.....

Anyway I put the card together and it's sitting there waiting for it's glamour shots appointment and I start thinking,  I wonder why the color orange picked this project.  What does the color orange mean.... so I googled it... here is what I found.   It's the 3rd one down on the google page, cause 3 is a good number...

'Orange is a colour which is formed by mixing red and yellow. It is a colour which symbolizes energy, zest, enthusiasm and creativity. One who wears orange is known to be someone who loves to experiment. Orange is also an appetite stimulant.

The colour orange signifies an open-minded approach. It gives vibes of friendship, fun and informality. Sexually speaking, the colour orange signifies passion and foreplay, an adjunct to the colour red which signifies erotica. If red is the colour of passion, then orange is known to be the 'igniter' of passion. The colour orange certainly draws attention as being liberal and unconventional. It is also known to be an immune booster. No wonder, one sees tonics, sexual stimulants and immunity boosting medicines sold usually in orange coloured packs.'

Now I know why it picked me and my project, it knew I needed energy and creativity!!!

Here is the hop list!  Please head on over and see what everyone has made!!!  IT's FUN!!!!

Smeared and Smudged Monthly Member Hop

Hello Lovelies,

It's baaaacccccckkkkk!!!!  The S & S monthly member hop is here again!  This month our hop is all about New!!!  That just means that something on your project has to be new to you!  It can be a technique you haven't tried before, or a new stamp that you just haven't had time to use yet.

So for my project I used 2 new things.  A envelope album that I got from Graphic 45 and a new Digi image from Smeared Ink!  Now not only did I double the newness, I tripled the challenges for this one project!!!  You all know that over on Smeared and smudged we have several challenges every month where you can win some wonderful items from some awesome companies!!  The challenges I made this project for are the S&S scrapbook sketch challenge, the challenge issued by out lovely Guest DT Alex, and for this Hop!!!

So my idea for this hop/challenges came from desperation quite honestly.  We started another group over on S & S about Art Journals and I love the idea.  I have wanted to do one for a while so was very happy when it was suggested!!!  Of course as soon as we start this everything goes haywire in my house.  In a good way of course.  My hubby is retiring from the Navy, which we have known for a while, what we didn't know was that he would get a job and have to start so quickly.  So long story short, we got a call on December 28th saying he got the job and you start on January 19th. Now we have been scrambling around, packing, finding a place to live, getting the house ready to sell, getting the kids ready to move(which isn't possible mentally I think) and just a whole lot of hoopla!!!!!  Long story short I wanted to make a book for Alex's challenge and also start an Art Journal.  Sooooo  I did!  I started the art journal then realized that I wouldn't have time to work on it everyday, what I do have time to do everyday is write something down.  Knowing myself though I would write it on whatever I had, like a couple of daily notes are on the backs of receipts!!!, so I needed somewhere to keep those pieces of paper!!!  Therefore the Envelope Album.  The Mad Scientist I think just represents my life perfectly right now!!!  I do know that I will add more pictures to the different pages, but right now I just have the one image!!  HEY all the pages are decorated though!!!!!that's gotta count for something!!!  Where does the scrapbook sketch come in you ask.... I just made it miniature to put it on the cover of my album!!!

Now hop on over and see what all my other lovely S and S hoppers have done!!!

Snow Bunnies and Sketches????

Are you scratching your head yet?  If so then I have done my job for the day!!!  LOL  No really, January is a very busy month.  My hubby is retiring from the Navy, starting a new job, and moving into a new town!!!  Not only are we moving we are moving on the 17th!!!!  So my life for the past couple of days has been...Pack a box, clean a space, pack a box, clean a space, stamp a project, pack a box, clean a space, color a project, pack a box, eat, clean a space, fall down in the computer chair, finish a project, then veg on the couch until the hubby wakes me up and says time for bed!!!!!

So this month I have found myself having to multi task on projects.  For this project I combined the lovely sketch that Kathi made for us and the wonderful challenge from Ms. January!!!

Ms. January's challenge is all about Snow Bunnies!  You can find more information about that here!!  Ms. Kathi always gives us wonderful sketches and I love to play with them!!  You can find the sketch here!!

Now here is my project...

I used Bombshell set A Pirates Life and colored her with my icy blue copics.  Then ya know every bunny has to have some bling so I gave mine some bling with Picket Fence stickles.  I started with Baxxill Basics cardstock then layered decorative paper from Heidi Grace Designs (frosted blvd./crystal snow), another layer of cardstock, this time SU. and then my wonderful Pirate Bombshell.  Well I think she is wonderful.  I finished the card off with some ribbon I got from Michaels umpteen years ago and the silver cord is from a lovely RAK my friend Blackdragon sent me!!!

To see more takes on the sketch and also more details on Ms. January head on over to the Bombshell Blog!

Thanks for Visiting.
