Day 4

Today is another card I liked from Pinterest and it can be found here!  I used the Lawn Fawn stamp set called Spooktacular!  It is such a cute little set!!! I stamped the images with memento black ink and then punched them with a circle punch.  I had to stamp the sentiment twice which made me a little grumpy!

Here is the card I made for today, I also used a Halloween embossing folder on the background paper!!

Day 2

Hey guys, I love to watch videos on youtube and one of my favorite people to watch is Sandy Allnock, if you haven't seen her videos yet you should go watch her!!!  Anyway a while ago she did this comic strip card using Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamps and I just loved it, so I had to try to make one, but Halloween theme of course...  So here it is, but honestly people go see what she does and how she uses her copic markers to color things...

Just a side note, most of my posts this month will be short and sweet and straight to the point...  several reasons for this but the most important one is that there are a lot of blogs to get to and a lot of comments to make on each blog so it's really for you!!!  LMAO

Day 1 of 31

Hey Guys, welcome to another year of 31 Days of Halloween!!!  Today I have a cute little shaker card for you!  Way back when Simon Says Stamp asked for people to participate in Stamptember, a month long release they do every year, so of course I put my name into the drawing and I got picked!!!  My stamps set to showcase got released day before yesterday and I was super excited to be able to use it several times during 31 Days!!!

The stamp set is called How we Roll and it is a Waffle Flower exclusive for Stamptember!!, ,I also received a matching die with the stamp set!  Here is my first card I made with it.

This year I have tried to use what Halloween supplies I have on hand, which is good amount!  I am doing this because our house has still not sold and we are basically paying 2 mortgages because our rent is as much as our house payment!!!  BUT I am totally super excited about being in the same house with my husband again because I missed him a whole lot when he got the new job and moved to Idaho!!!  So good news is we live in the same house again, bad/sad news is I can't buy new goodies just yet!!!

Here is the blog roll. I am also going to have it in the sidebar all month!!!

Old to New(ish)

I did a thing y'all!!!  Like a super cool, at least to me, thing!!!   I took an old dresser I have had since I was in like 8th grade! and revamped it to use in my studio!!!  I mean this thing has been through a lot... Lots and lots of moves, a daughter who used it cause it would fit in her room, back to me and staying in my closet holding my lingerie, ok who am I kidding, it has 7 drawers and 4 of them are socks!!!  LOL

Anyway, I had been seeing all these PINs on Pinterest about people revamping old furniture without sanding and let's all be honest here, who in the hell wants to sand anything?, not me for sure!!!!

So I bought the primer that everyone said use, it was 20$ a gallon at my Lowe's, got the paint colors I wanted and had the hubby cart it off to the shop so I didn't have to paint in the house!   So here I go, taking off all the hardware and wiping the dust off of the whole thing then I start priming it, that's when I thought hey take pictures!!!  So here are the pictures I took the first day...

This primer stuff works pretty good, although because you didn't sand, you need like a gazillion coats, OK 3 but still that's a lot of priming!!!  Oh and use a foam roller for the love of sanity, use a foam roller!!!!!!!  So I got everything primed and let it dry, painted the drawer fronts in my color of choice, and then added a coat or 2, OK 2 , of white paint on top of the white primer on the main part of the dresser.....  took the hubby and the son to Lowe's to pick out new hardware for the drawers and some dinner!!!  YAY food!  Get back out to the shop only to realize that I didn't take those little feet off and prime or paint those... also the hardware didn't fit, was to small!!!

So hubby took the feet off and we started on those, realized that the hardware was to small and because of where I live and it being a Sunday night everything was closed... so I knew that I wasn't getting the dresser finished that night or that week for that matter since I would have to order hardware to get the correct length.... now about ordering hardware for my dresser that is 4 inches, cause the store doesn't sell that length.. do you know how expensive that shit is???  Like seriously!!!  So I decided that was not going to happen because let's just say three mortgages!!!  I went and found a can of metallic silver spray paint in the stash in the garage and also a can of primer + paint in white for the little feet I still had to do and went to town finishing it up!

Isn't it cute!!!!!!!!  Now it's in the studio holding 12x12 paper because that's what I needed it for!!!

Now that that is all finished I would probably try the spray paint with primer or paint with primer first before I got the primer again, but since I have about 90% of that gallon of primer left, I will use it  to finish up the few other projects I still want to tackle in the craft room!!!

Hello Lovelies,

It's Wednesday again and you know that means another Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge right!!  This week our sponsor is the fantabulous Vera Lane!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE those images!!!

I've created two ATCs this week!  I used my color pencils to color them both and a bit of dylusions on the backgrounds as this weeks challenge is sprays or inks!!!

Yes they are both colored with color pencils, both of them use some of the same colors.  I just love playing with the different looks you can achieve with colored pencils!!!  Come join us at WWATC for this weeks challenge!!!!

DIY Dry Erase Board

So in my house in Virginia I had an area in my kitchen that we painted with chalk board paint, and framed so I could write notes, the menu, anything really.  Well since the move I don't have that, and it's not my house so I can't and/or don't want to paint anything in this house.  Which means I don't have anywhere to write notes, or the menu, or anything really, so I decided to make one.  So what do you get when you have an abundance of contact paper because you had to line the shelves in the pantry because you don't know what the last tenants put in there, even after you cleaned it, and a 16x20 poster frame you had got from Walmart or somewhere?  You make your own dry erase board of course.  Not hard at all and quite a bit cheaper than a dry erase board from the store, at least around here anyway...  we looked at one that was the same size 16x20 and they wanted 20$ for it... my frame was on clearance for like $2.50, I think they are normally 5$ though, and like I said I have a lot of contact paper and I got that roll from the $store.....

Like I said, not hard at all, you cut a length of contact paper long enough to cover the cardboard that comes in the frame, wrap it like a book cover, then put the frame back together, and there ya have it!!! A DIY Dry Erase Board!!

In Memory...

We are all so saddened by the loss of Miss Lily Chilvers, the owner and artist of The Octopode Factory. Alison Heikkila and Suzi McKenzie wanted to host a Blog Hop where we can share some of Lily's images, as well as share our love for her. We have gotten permission to have this hop for Lily by her mom Mandy. Please join us in honoring our friend and fellow artist.

Today we are remembering Lily Chilvers a truly beautiful artist and soul taken from us too soon.
To honour Lily we are sharing projects we have made in her memory using the wonderful, whimsical and wacky art she shared with us all.

Here are a couple of things I made for 31 Days last year, I will hopefully be able to find the file with my most current projects soon and post those as well!!!

Recap of past few months

Well the house is on the market and we have had lots and lots of looky loos but no offers yet, but I am not worried, it will sell when the time is right!!  Good news is, Hunter made it through school and I made it through the last 9 months without killing a teenage boy!!  Just sayin...  he's quite moody that one...   anyway, lets recap the last nine months of my life shall we...

Steven (that's the husband) left September of 2014 to start his new job in Idaho Falls... Hunter (that's the teenage boy who still lives) and I stayed in Virgina to get the house ready for the market and to finish the school year out.  Jewel (that's the daughter who is now married) decided that she wanted to get married to Bentrick ( that's the son-in-love).  Which meant I planned a wedding all by myself (well jewel helped with ideas but the actual pulling off of the ideas was mostly me) but it was fun and it kept my mind off of Steven being gone.  He got to come home for Christmas and the wedding which was awesome cause that was two weeks we had with him.  I purged the house of all the things we didn't need anymore, that was 15 kragen (which is what we call our Nissan murano) fulls of stuff off to goodwill and when I say full I mean I was the only one who could fit in the car in the drivers seat... all other seats were folded down and the kragen was full!!!  After all of that there was organizing the whole house to get it ready for showings.  Then the painting and staging and keeping it spotless and leaving for showings...  ummm selling a house is not the easiest of things to do... just sayin...

Bride and Groom with Brides family

Then came the ending of the school year and the decision to move from Virginia to Idaho... which now means the house in Virginia is empty and still on the market and I have a rental house here but the company that Steven works for is helping with that so it's all good!! So that was moving companies and packers and driving across country which was good because we got to stop in Louisiana and celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary with them!!! and see family.  We got our household goods on Monday the 15th of June and now the hardest part of moving starts...unpacking.  It's time like these I wish I had a genie on hand or that I was Molly Weasley and could just wave my wand and everything would be where it needs to be and that would be it!!!  but alas I am a mere muggle and don't have that ability!!

Somewhere in Wyoming

Somewhere in Idaho

So now I am typing this and uploading pictures from the trip so that I can procrastinate and not unpack boxes but my procrastinating time is drawing to a close, I would like to finish the kitchen today so that we can have a lovely home cooked meal because I am tired of take out!!!

Oh yes there was arting time in there sometimes because I needed to keep up with my wonderful WWATC peoples but alas no blogging, because silly me thought that uploading them to our facebook group and the WWATC blog meant that I blogged about them on this blog... yeah told you I was silly, and I may have forgotten to mention that somewhere in that 9 months of everything that was going on in my life I may have lost my mind, not sure where yet, but I am pretty sure it is gone!!!

some of my Wicked Wednesday ATC (WWATC) projects!

a Little Art Journaling

and to top it all off I started participating with Listers Gotta List!

So now off to do more unpacking because the sooner I finish the kitchen and living room and office the sooner I can get into the art studio and get that set up so I can start arting again!!!
