DREAMY

"Was it all a DREAM?"
Hey, everyone!  I'm here with The Greeting Farm today and I'm happy to report that no, it definitely was NOT a DREAM!
That's right!  Today is the super special mid-month RELEASE DAY for the brand new mixed-media DREAM kit... appropriately titled "DREAMY"!   This jumbo-sized, 8.5x11 FULL sheet of stamps is available starting NOW over in the TGF STORE, so be sure to grab yours before they sell out!
I honestly think there are so many things you can do with this Kit, not only mixed media but card making, ATC, you name it I think it can be done!!!  With that being said, I made an art journal page.  Now when I started art journaling I started doing it as a way to make uplifting/encouraging pages for my daughter who was going through a tough time in her life.  I would tell her all the time the things my first journal pages said but somehow I think putting them on pretty backgrounds and actually giving her a book that she can look at and carry with her wherever she goes was a major step in her being able to believe the things I had been telling her!  Once that first journal was finished and given to her I decided I would just continue them for her, not as my main focus but just something here and there I could give her when I felt that she needed to be uplifted… So this is what I have made for her in her journal with this wonderful set…
photo (1)
This set has some wonderful saying as well as images in it and I knew as soon as I got it that I was going to use this one in a journal for my daughter… I want her to know that it is ok to be different, it is ok not to follow the same path as everyone else, it is ok to stand out!!!
We have a super awesome lineup of Guest artists for you to visit today, so if you're just getting here, be sure to start on the TGF BLOG for all the details, or you can continue here and just make sure you've visited everyone because ONE LUCKY WINNER who completes our hop today will WIN the DREAMY kit!
Here's the order for today's special release hop:
Be sure to stop right back over on the TGF BLOG to let us know you've completed the hop and you're entering to WIN the "DREAMY" kit!   Winner will be announced first thing MONDAY morning on the blog so you have the weekend  (through Sunday, June 16th at 11:30pm CST)  to relax, hop, and DREAM of the possibilities of creating with this awesome new kit!
Thanks for joining us, everyone!

Lend a stamp and let a friend enter. If they win, maybe they will share the Booty!!!Looking forward to seeing all your amazing entries.
Jennie xxx

Now really all you have to do is pick 3 in a Row and go for it!!!  I chose to go straight down the middle.

010

Now the Purple is obviously the letters, the paper piecing is the skulls which were stamped on patterned paper then cut out to make my flowers, and the something new is the whole thing, the journal, the concept of the journal, and the paper the skulls were stamped on!!!  So head over to the Bombshell Blog to see what the other DT have made for you and don’t forget to enter in our monthly challenge!!!

Ghosting Technique for Art Journaling

Hello loves, I recently saw this technique called Ghosting and couldn’t wait to play with it!  Then I thought why not use song lyrics from my favorite artist Florence and the Machine… So I got out my sharpies and started writing…. Then the art journaling prompt on Smeared and Smudged was lyrics a couple of weeks ago(it’s ok you didn’t miss it you can play with them anytime you want!)

So here is my background process… I haven’t completed the page yet cause it hasn’t come to me completely but I did want to show you the process of which I got the background!!

IMG_1650IMG_1652IMG_1658IMG_1660IMG_1662IMG_1661
So please try this technique when you have something to say that you aren’t quite ready to share with anyone or when you just want something there that is totally cool!!

Alter It

Hey Hey everyone!  We are back and know what were doing now!!! LOL  The Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls challenge blog is up and going!  We are now a bi-weekly challenge and our first one is today!  Those who enter will be put into an random drawing to be our GDT next month!  Awesome!!!

This weeks challenge is to Alter it.  What is it?  What ever you want it to be!!!  Just alter something!!!

My daughters best friend has a birthday coming up and I wanted to make her something.  My daughter is totally into smash books and art journaling so we thought it would be a good idea to make her friend her very own smash book/art journal.  Her friend is  very artistic on her own so we didn’t want to fill every page for her we wanted to let her do it on her own.  I made a cover and decorated the back adding a few things here and there in the book.

here is the front of the book before I altered it!

here are the first couple of pages done for her… just to give her something to have right away!

here’s the back cover….

Then I thought well now wait, smash books/ junk journals/art journals are full of stuff so I decided to go through my stash and gather some things for her to work with…
IMG_1707

I added some envelopes and pockets to several different pages for her to stash stuff in…

I may add more things to it before we give it to her but for right now I am gathering stash stuff for her to use.  I am thinking she will enjoy it!

Head on over to the Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls blog and check out everything everyone else has made and see all the dirty details of the challenge!!!

Freaky Friday Challenge #28

Hey all, welcome to another Freaky Friday Challenge!  This week we have some wonderful images to work with.  I chose a silhouette this week and then decided to use it for a white spot in one of my art journal pages.  So I printed it out, taped it down with removable tape and then went to work on the background!  I thought of coming out of the shadows so that is where the page headed.
Here is the original image:

and here is what I made with it!:

I hope you enjoy and remember to head on over and see what everyone else has made and enter our challenge this week!!

What's in your Brew?

Hello Lovelies. Ok let's be honest with each other, it was a long long weekend with the hubby and kids home from work and off from school for 5 days and I completely forgot that it was my Tuesday to post on Smudgy Antics until ummmmm like 9pm on Monday..... Soooooooooo, as most of you know I have several projects that I have made and posted that are works in progress so I decided to work on one of those.!!! In January I posted this lovely post for the S and S member hop! It was meant to be a place where I kept my everyday thoughts for journaling in my art journal and has turned into something completely different! Fo those of you who don't know I went to school to become a chef and actually finished and worked as a chef for a few years, then things happen and one thing leads to another and now I am a stay at home mom and I love it. I love to cook and am always looking for new things to try. My kids know this and have started writing down recipes or tearing them out of magazines for me(of course only things they are interested in!!!). So long story short, this has turned into a recipe holder of sorts. This is where I keep those bits and scraps until they are tested and voted on and then they are put into the bigger recipe holder!!!

Today I added a digi image from SI Mad Scientist set and the words Witche's Brew (which will be printed out and attached to the actual book!!!)... This is where I keep all my Halloween themed recipes. You know the kids are always bringing those home cause they involve candy or sugar most of the time!!!Anyway, I am sorry I didn't do something more elaborate for you today, I will try not to forget next time!!!! Hope you enjoy!

Smeared and Smudged Monthly Member Hop

Hello Lovelies,

It's baaaacccccckkkkk!!!!  The S & S monthly member hop is here again!  This month our hop is all about New!!!  That just means that something on your project has to be new to you!  It can be a technique you haven't tried before, or a new stamp that you just haven't had time to use yet.

So for my project I used 2 new things.  A envelope album that I got from Graphic 45 and a new Digi image from Smeared Ink!  Now not only did I double the newness, I tripled the challenges for this one project!!!  You all know that over on Smeared and smudged we have several challenges every month where you can win some wonderful items from some awesome companies!!  The challenges I made this project for are the S&S scrapbook sketch challenge, the challenge issued by out lovely Guest DT Alex, and for this Hop!!!

So my idea for this hop/challenges came from desperation quite honestly.  We started another group over on S & S about Art Journals and I love the idea.  I have wanted to do one for a while so was very happy when it was suggested!!!  Of course as soon as we start this everything goes haywire in my house.  In a good way of course.  My hubby is retiring from the Navy, which we have known for a while, what we didn't know was that he would get a job and have to start so quickly.  So long story short, we got a call on December 28th saying he got the job and you start on January 19th. Now we have been scrambling around, packing, finding a place to live, getting the house ready to sell, getting the kids ready to move(which isn't possible mentally I think) and just a whole lot of hoopla!!!!!  Long story short I wanted to make a book for Alex's challenge and also start an Art Journal.  Sooooo  I did!  I started the art journal then realized that I wouldn't have time to work on it everyday, what I do have time to do everyday is write something down.  Knowing myself though I would write it on whatever I had, like a couple of daily notes are on the backs of receipts!!!, so I needed somewhere to keep those pieces of paper!!!  Therefore the Envelope Album.  The Mad Scientist I think just represents my life perfectly right now!!!  I do know that I will add more pictures to the different pages, but right now I just have the one image!!  HEY all the pages are decorated though!!!!!that's gotta count for something!!!  Where does the scrapbook sketch come in you ask.... I just made it miniature to put it on the cover of my album!!!

Now hop on over and see what all my other lovely S and S hoppers have done!!!

Day 26...Story Time

Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know that Terra is very sick as well as her kiddies so Alison and I will be handeling the sponsors.  So please email your responses to me(Kelli) here.  Today's sponsor is Strange Skin and there is a clue somewhere in my post about what to look for!!!  Now I know you have all been waiting for the winner of the devil doll digi so without further ado the winner is..... LADY BRAYTON!!!  LB Alison will be emailing you soon, I believe!

Now on to Story Time:

Hello everyone who has come to my friend Kelli's blog today!  My name is a secret but I can tell you this, I am a 7th year muggle born student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  Some would tell you I am the smartest to attend in ages, but I don't like to brag about myself!  I am on a secret mission for our Potions Master of the school.  You see some of our potions that we make require special ingredients  that your can only get from a muggle or from the muggle world.  Since I am muggle born, it was decided that I get them.

So story time you ask, well that doesn't mean I am going to read you a story.  That means that I am going to show you my secret story time book!!
Isn't it cute!  Just a pocket size book of Poe.  I think it is wonderful.  Want to see more pages? OK!

Ok so it's a picture book!  Are you saying you have never looked at a picture book before?  That's what I thought!!  Now want to know a secret?  Look at the 2nd page again!
That's a secret compartment that's what that is!!!  Where else did you think I was going to hide my smuggled in potions ingredients?   Did you know that Mike has lost his Jack-o-lantern! Can you help him find it!  Anyway I digress...

Today, I am carrying crystalized human blood(given freely I might add), frog eyes(I really don't know why he couldn't get these in diagon alley, something about no harvesting with magic), and lastly belladonna(that's just for me to use in case a muggle is smart enough to find my secret compartment)! So I hope you have all learned the importance of  story time today!  I hope you come back tomorrow!!!

Winter Watcher Mini Journal

HAPPY 2010 EVERYONE!!!!!

Today I am showing a mini journal that I made.  Usually I take a journal that I have purchased and alter it, today I made this journal from the cover to the inside.  I used small board books from SU for the covers and just regular printer paper for the inside pages.  The stamp is from Sweet Pea Stamps she is called Winter Watcher.  This was my first chance to use my copic markers that I got for Christmas and I was so excited.  I think I colored her about 5 different times before I finally got it the way I wanted, but what better excuse to play with my new toys!!!!  I bound the journal with small rings and then wrapped those in black fiber ribbon.  The ribbon that closes the journal is from a store(Aerie) where i got a present for my daughter.  They always put your purchases in a little gift bag with tissue paper and ribbon!  I hope you enjoy her as much as I enjoyed palying with her.  Please go and check out Sweet Pea stamps if you haven't before or even if it has been a while,  they have some awesome images over there!

On another note check out all the things happening over on Smeared and Smudged there are some awesome challenges and this months sponsor is Fairie Song.

Ace in the Hole Idea Book

Here is an altered notebook I did for the Design Team on Smeared and Smudged!  This book has two totally different covers.  The "front cover" is light and airy with sass and the "back" is dark and gothic!  I made this book to write down my crreating ideas and wanted the two sides to match whatever catagory I thought the ideas belonged in at the time!  Going from the front would be normal ideas and going from the back would be my not so normal ideas....although I am not sure if I have normal ideas!!!  My daughter seems to think I will always write from the back of the book!  The images on the front are from a ACE energy drink can that I found at Biglots...I am not an energy drink drinker so I made my hubby drink them.  He loved it..I just bought it for the images! LOL  The stamped image on the back is from Third Coast  Rubber Stamps and her wings are made from the same energy drink can!

Come on over to Smeared and Smudged and check us out!  If you enjoy Alternative, Vintage, and Gothic Art Rubber Stamping, then this is the place for you!

Creepy Cooking, Oh My!

Happy Saturday everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful day! I am so excited for today, there is a scrapping, stamping, paper art show in town and I am so going...I can't wait!!! I wanted to thank you all for your lovely comments, and to those who have asked how to do something, don't think I have forgotten. I will get the instructions to you as soon as possible. It makes me happy that you all like my projects and cards!

Today I decided to make another page for my Halloween Art Journal. I found this digi image and at first look it's just a little ole' Gypsy lady cooking, but you know me...I had to make her into something she really isn't. I decided to make her creepy and goopy and have her cooking something that looks entirely inedible, with her little demon dog waiting for a taste. The floor was made with grout that I stamped a checkered background into then painted. The wall is painted and sprayed with Walnut ink. The body parts all over are from a skeleton I got at Target for like 50 cents because one of his legs was put on backwards. I thought so what it’s a skeleton who cares if he has a backwards leg, that just makes it all the creepier so I took it!!! I knew I could use it for something! I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and then adhered it to the chipboard page with Omni Gel. I love that stuff!

Now that you have seen my project for the day and left me a comment, hop on over to Smeared and Smudged to see what Terra has for you!!! Remember comments equal blog candy entries. Thanks so much to all who have participated in our challenges and I am looking forward to seeing more wonderful works of art from everyone!!!

Day 9... FRIGHTFUL FLIGHT!

This is my answer to using paint on a card or project that Terra issued on Tuesday!!!
I posted in an earlier blog that I was starting a chipboard journal of sorts to have samples of my art, and I thought this would be a great page for that journal. The butterfly is a image I received for being a part of the Scrapbooking and Crafting Design Team and it is from MyGrafco. I thought something a little different was in store for this cute little flyer!!! I used prismacolor pencils on the butterfly and accented him with blue metallic paint. For the chipboard page, I painted it with several layers and several varying colors of gray, ranging from white to black. I drew the spooky tree on after it was dried and then painted it with metallic black. Something I found out while doing this project is that if you use enough layers of paint, when you bend the chipboard it will crack giving it a weathered look without having to use a crackle medium! I love that look.

So let me know what you think of today's project, and remember to hop on over to see what Terra created today!

To see the rundown of all the hoopla :))that we are putting you through to win the blog candy click here!!!!! LOL

Remember to leave me some love, or at least tell me what you think of this project!
